The ISCB Student Council is organizing the 3rd Student Council Symposium to be held on Saturday, July 21st, in parallel to the ISMB/ECCB 2007 tutorial sessions in Vienna, Austria. The Student Council Symposium is a forum for students and young researchers in the field of computational biology. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work to an international audience, build a network within the computational biology community and develop important soft skills in an environment that fosters exchange of ideas and knowledge.
The Student Council Symposium-3 (SCS3) is an event organised for/by undergraduate, postgraduate and postdoctoral computational biologists.
We have confirmed as keynote speakers Janet Thornton (European Bioinformatics Institute), who will be speaking about “Comparative Functional Genomics of Ageing” and Anna Tramontano (University of Rome “La Sapienza”), presenting “Structural Bioinformatics: Shortcuts and Pitfalls”.
For a panel discussion on “The Future of bioinformatics” we will be joined by Rita Casadio (Bologna Biocomputing Unit), Thomas Lengauer (Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics) and Tan Tin Wee (National University of Singapore).
Five well-funded travel fellowships to the symposium and ISMB/ECCB 2007 are available for undergraduate and master’s students. Visit our website at http://www.iscbsc.org/scs... for details.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Vienna this July!
