Information in Biology

I think that the idea of information as a unifying center in Biology is extremely important. The fact that living things make use of a “code” –with distinct underlying levels of complexity, makes Biology a science that study basically “informatic machines”; that distinguish Biology from all the other Natural Sciences… This paper, by the inventor of the term, gives a review of the history of Bioinformatics that remind us of the original meaning of the term, apart from the most common meaning that regards Bioinformatics simply as a tool making technique.
