COVER

Coexistence probability of randomly parameterized polynucleotide sequence pairs of two monomers A and B.

Image Credit: András Szilágyi, István Zachar, and Eörs Szathmáry (Parmenides Center for the Conceptual Foundations of Science, Pullach, Germany)
Issue Image

The probability of coexistence correlates with the degree of niche segregation on the monomers as resources. Each cell is an average of numerical results over 1,000 random parameter setups. Purple indicates highly improbable coexistence and green indicates likely coexistence. Sequences are arranged along the axes first according to Hamming distance and secondly according to lexicographic ordering (increasing B content towards bottom and right). See Szilágyi et al.
